Believe it or not, we women live in times where we're expected to multitask like a ninja! It may sound a little far-fetched when I say so but its the truth. I was raised to be an independent woman. Are we really independent when it comes to clothes and fashion? We are expected to give birth to kids, manage work stress and the family. All this and yes one needs to look gorgeous no matter WHAT! Mind you, some women are blessed with an amazing metabolism and I'm really jealous! The majority of us are unfortunately sailing in the same boat.
OK! so we're superwomen, we can do everything! Is it really necessary? The sort of peer pressure we're building for ourselves is almost insane! It's surprising to see my mood be oh so good the day I wear comfortable clothes. I'm suddenly this amiable, genteel person. Days I try to squeeze into my favorite party outfit, trust me I'm the crankiest person on the planet! Am I looking ok? Is my tummy showing? Seriously? The torture we women put ourselves through? Is it worth it? I'd say no! Positively no.
So here I am wearing the clothes that bring out the best in me. Sure I get the occasional eye rolls from time to time, but heck! Who cares? Then again one can't wear a maxi to a formal occasion. I'm not here to advocate for an unhealthy lifestyle. I think we need to understand our limits and know where to draw the line.
Times are pathetic people. Global warming, crazy politics, poverty, layoffs, hunger, droughts. The list never ends. It only seems reasonable enough to keep our cool with the tiny bursts of happiness life has to offer.
